Day 6. Monday Feb 27 There is someone at school I really don’t like! Perhaps that’s because he or she has been mean to me or to others. Today, I will go out of my way to say something nice to that person, or I will go out of my way to do something kind for him or her. Why? Because Jesus likes EVERYBODY, even though sometimes we are mean!

Day 5. First Sunday of Lent: Feb 26
Day 5. First Sunday of Lent: Feb 26 This morning I won’t fool around! I will get ready for church and be on time! I will listen to the Children’s Sermon. I will sing and pray and think about Jesus. Meanwhile, Jesus will be singing and praying and thinking about me!
Yes. We made it to the church on time. :-)

Day 4. Saturday Feb 25
Day 4. Saturday Feb 25 Today I will surprise my parents by doing something nice, like cleaning my room without being asked, or washing the dishes, folding the laundry, or taking out the trash. Like Jesus, I will do things for other people, because, like Jesus, I serve with love!
Today I will be a mom, just like every day. But today I will remember how thankful I am for the opportunity to be a parent. It wasn't supposed to happen for me. It is a good reminder of how grateful I really am.

Day 3. Friday Feb 24
Day 3. Friday Feb 24 Today I will choose something from our cupboard or pantry—some food I really, really like!—and I will ask a parent to help me take it to the food pantry, as a gift to people who cannot afford to buy delicious things. Why? Because Jesus was always feeding people who were hungry, so I should too.
Today is also a good day to take in all the "too small"clothes we gleaned from JB's overstuffed closet last weekend. she has pants, shirts, socks and dresses. Jackets and hats, and dance clothes. Some days I wish she would stop growing, then realize, all to soon, she will.

no more knitpicts
Please note that if you have linked to my knitting blog "knitpicts" it is gone away. I realized that I hadn't updated it since February of 2011. An entire year. What a waste of cyberspace, so I deleted it. If I ever get a knit project done, I will show it to you here instead.
Day 2. Thursday February 23
Day 2. Thursday February 23
Today I will phone someone who is sick or home-bound and I will tell them “hello” and I will tell them I am thinking about them. I will tell them they are special. Why? Because Jesus paid special attention to people who were sick or stuck at home. He knew how lonely it can be to be by yourself all the time.
Hmmm... Fortunately I can't think of anyone right off the top of my head who is sick or home bound... I will think about it, but I will also pray for my JB that we can find some answers to her illness, and that her pain will go away, that she can resume her normal activities and participate in P.E. and dance, and guitar, and all the things she has given up this last month.
Day 1. Ash Wednesday Feb. 22
From the Reverend Susan Springer:
"Each day during Lent, children and families are invited to observe the season in a special way. Each morning, read the Lenten practice for the day. Do your best to observe and follow that practice....each day you walk one step closer to Easter with Jesus."
Day 1. Ash Wednesday February 22.
Today I will remember that this day is precious. Today will never happen again! It is a one-time wonder! At least three different times today I will say "thank you, God" for the privilege of being alive!
1. Today I thank God for the loving family I have. the friends I have. the people who make my life blessed.
2. Today I thank God for the ability to clothe, feed, and house my child.
3. Today I thank God for being the privelege of being asked to be Lilu's Godmother.
