Caribbean Christmas 12/31

Sadly, it is time to head back to the United States and the cold, cold, air. We arrived to the Curacao, airport, found our gate, and saw the gate board say our flight to Aruba was on time. Then the clock ticked, and ticked, and ticked, and soon it was past time for our flight to leave. The gate board still said "on time" for about a half an hour, then just turned off. We didn't have any word why it was delayed, or if it was coming, so we began to ask around the airport for information. Finally someone at the gate for a different airline told us Tiara Air only flies one flight per day from Curacao to Aruba, and they often just leave whenever the pilot gets there. They post flight times so people can buy their tickets on line, in advance, but no one ever really knows when the pilot will come. When he's ready the plane will load and off we'll go. So we sat and waited some more. Finally the pilot arrived and we headed out. Sadly though, now we didn't have enough time to leave the airport and do some sight seeing in Aruba.

After finding our luggage in the Aruba airport, and preparing to go back though security to get our Delta flight home, we heard an EXTREMELY LOUD  popping and banging sound. The security guard motioned us to hurry and exit the building. I was really worried that something sinister was happening. Turned out someone had lit a rope of firecrackers on the street in front of the airport. It was 12:00  noon and the beginning of the New Year's Eve celebrations. The security guard was motioning us to hurry because he didn't want us to miss seeing it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
