Beautiful

JB has an MRI. We will learn the results on April 15th.

Easter vests for L and E. I am posting from my phone and have no idea how to get the pictures right side up. Sorry!

An art assignment.  Teacher said drawing needed a "vanishing point and convergent lines" so JB and Bill worked together to create this.  He showed her some amazing tricks to get the lines to fit within the perspective. It was all very complicated.  JB went to turn it in the next morning and teacher became angry because "assignment was not to use 3 point perspective" and made JB start again.  So she drew a horizon line added a blue curved river and turned it in.  That was accepted.

Chillin' at the cabin.  Seeing the dyslexic kid read because she wants to is always a beautiful sight.

No photo...But the most beautiful thing I saw today was a young college age couple, looking so seriously in love you wanted to puke, walking hand in hand down fourth north in Logantown. No big deal...unless I mention they were both male...

Beautiful 3-18

Today's image is brought to you by Logan Regional Hospital.  No need to panic.. ..everything is fine (ish). JB has had strange headaches off and on for a while now. We have never been able to find a reason.  So finally I decided it was time to try and get to the bottom of things.  I started with the eye doctor.  He said her eyes are fine. Wouldn't be the cause of the headaches. Next was the  pediatrician. She said it looked like JB had some mild (8%) scoliosis and recommended a visit with the orthopedic surgeon.  Orthopedic surgeon said spine is not curved. He says there is no scoliosis. ..But in looking at JB's x-ray she has some "congenitally fused" vertebrae in both her neck and her upper back.  Congenitally fused. He says they were fused before she was even born.  Amazing.  Isn't it incredible what technology can tell us? And I think in a weird way the x-ray is somewhat beautiful...
As for the cause of headaches. ...doctor says it is possible that there are some nerves in her neck that are getting bothered by the spinal fusion.  Next step is MRI to determine where nerves are and if that's the actual problem, and then decide what to do with the information. I will keep you posted.

beautiful 3-17

Right now "beautiful" looks like a bottle of Nyquil. I have been fighting a cold for going on 3 weeks now. Doc says it's a virus. have had various versions of sore throat/fevers/alternating stuffy and runny nose/cough then no cough then cough again.. It seems like every day there is a new symptom.Today it is kicking my buttocks. That is all.

Beautiful 3-13

This is a Throw Back Thursday Tribute to Tye-Tye and the girl that was. This was shot in March of 2001. Tigra is 6 yrs old and JB is 18 months. You can't hear the sound very well. but JB makes sure the doggy has her blankie, a goodnight story, and a bed time bottle. The video ends when the doggy really does try to eat the bottle... This is the last video of Tigra that I have, as she passed away about a month later. I still miss her gentle soul. Night night, Tye-Tye, sleep well old friend.

Beautiful 3-10

Technically, I can't take credit for today's photo.  This was taken by JB as she came home from school.  Miss Lily heard the bus go past the house, and ran to the library window.  She cried and barked until I opened the blinds so she could see JB walk from the bus stop.  I love how much Miss Lily adores JB.

Something Beautiful 3-9 Diary of a Liar

Yup. I missed posting yesterday, but I think today's selection should more than make up for that. I stole this from my BFF's Facebook page. This was written by Scione. He is 8 years old and in 2nd grade. His dad helped him to illustrate it and put it out on YouTube, then Shawndra posted it on Facebook, and I stole it to share here.  Enjoy!

Something beautiful 3-5-14

Ash Wednesday 2014

Here we are again at the start of Lent. Today is Ash Wednesday, and traditionally I have all these great Lenten plans...but this year...not so much. Ashes sent me a text, asking me what was in store for this year, and I had to confess I was at a loss. She suggested trying to do a random act of kindness, or maybe photographing something beautiful each day. I think those are marvelous ideas. I also heard on NPR about a town in Wisconsin (I think) where 94% of adults have their advanced directives (AKA living wills) filled out and had all of their end of life stuff organized and planned. While I have no intention of kacking out here any time soon, I also don't want there to be any question on my lack of desire for life prolonging treatments, should something happen. So, I am going to take that project on, along with being nice and seeing beautiful. What are your Lenten plans?
p.s. I probably won't post much about my acts of kindness because that kind of defeats the purpose...I'm not sure I want every day to consist of posts like this: Hey look! Did you see how I walked up to the front of the yoga class to get that mat for the embarrassed lady who came in late? Did you see it? Wasn't that soooooooo nice of me?
p.s.s. Actually it was nice of me, and after class, my new friend Suzanne, thanked me and explained she was late to class because she was helping her special needs daughter make it to the school bus on time. Suzanne, I'll get your mat for you anytime.
