We arose early, and hopped a little 15 minute flight to the island of Curacao then headed into the city of Willemstad to see the sights.
This extremely nice gentleman tried to help us sort out the parking meters. We tried a credit card. We tried dollar bills. We tried dutch coins, and we still couldn't get it to work. Turned out the meter was actually broken! Bill just decided to try another meter up the street and it worked perfectly!
JB and I watched a HUGE puffer fish swim around a boat pylon while we waited.
Finally we were off to see the town.
We were sitting at the water side discussing what we should do next when we heard a bell ringing. Looking up we saw the bridge begin to move. It is a bridge on pontoons, and it separated and opened up for some boats to come through. Once they passed, it closed up again.
The bridge before it opened.
While it was opening.
Waiting for boats to pass, before closing.
Dutch and Spanish influence in the architecture.
JB on the bridge.
Dinner time!
Willemstad at night.
Holiday street decorations = dolphins wearing Santa hats.
Bed. Sweet, bed.

I like the Roman Boat! The Queen Emma pontoon bridge was really cool. When we were there, we saw a War Ship leave the Curacao Harbor and go out to sea. Also one of the street musicians created an impromptu song just for the "Utah" family. Grandma and the grandkids were in the mix playing rhythm instruments and dancing as the man sang his
song and played the guitar.
